Paula Brown has an unparalleled passion for advocating for her clients, as anyone who knows her will attest.  Paula has obtained acquittals in numerous criminal trials and reversals of convictions before Ohio’s appellate courts.  In addition to being a highly experienced attorney, Paula’s skills as a registered nurse prove invaluable to the firm’s representation of all of its clients.

Governor Strickland recognized Paula’s accomplishments by appointing her to the Ohio Criminal Sentencing Commission in 2007.  Governor Kasich has since renewed Paula’s appointment.

Paula traces her roots to Youngstown, Ohio.  In her spare time, Paula enjoys running, knitting, and spending time with her two adult sons.

CAREER HIGHLIGHTS

  • Obtained the Ohio Supreme Court’s unanimous reversal of her client’s aggravated murder conviction in State v. Goff, 128 Ohio St.3d 169, 2010-Ohio-6317.
  • Part of Kravitz Brown & Dortch team that obtained the only verdict of acquittal out of eleven individuals charged in United States v. Poulsen, et al., U.S. Dist. Ct., S.D. Ohio Case No. 2:06 CR 129 (National Century Financial Enterprises federal criminal litigation), the largest federal fraud case prior to Bernie Madoff.
  • Obtained not guilty verdicts on multiple federal felony counts in United States v. Coleman, United States District Court for the Southern District of Ohio (2005).
  • Obtained a new trial for a client convicted of murder, resulting in the client’s release from prison after twenty-two years of confinement.  State of Ohio v. LeFever.
  • Obtained the reversal of voluntary manslaughter and child endangering convictions and a not guilty verdict on retrial in State v. Conley, Perry County Court of Common Pleas (2007).
  • Has successfully averted the filing of formal criminal charges against numerous clients.
  • Has obtained the reinstatement of professional licenses for numerous clients.
